Current standard: NASM320. AN320 is now controlled by NASM320 (AN320 Rev. 14 Notice 1). The part numbers do not change: AN320-1 is still the number on drawings, IPCs and bags, and it is the same part. Order it by that number; the current document is NASM320.

Notes from the standard

  • Thread T per MIL-S-7742, countersunk 110 degrees (ref) to the O.D. of the threads; .016 (ref) chamfer step as drawn.
  • Chamfer on bottom face 15 degrees to dimension A is optional.
  • (a) For aluminum alloy nuts larger than -5 size, tolerances on dimension A may conform to the applicable material specifications for bar and rod.
  • (b) The 1-14 NF nominal thread size (-16) was inactivated for new design after 27 Mar 1967 but is still procurable.
  • Marking in accordance with SAE AS478.
  • Unless otherwise specified, tolerances: decimals +/-.010, angles +/-1 degree. Remove all burrs.
  • Nuts manufactured to previous revisions 11, 12 and 13 may be furnished from supplier's stock until 20 Aug 1998.
  • Dash -1 and -2 have no tensile strength values printed. Dash -15 and -16 differ only in thread pitch (12 UNF and 14 NF).
