Maximum – minimum as tabulated in MS35691 Rev. E; letters as on the standard's drawing.
Dimensions in inches; two optional designs (with or without a .016 approx. washer face, 30 deg +/-2 deg chamfer). F, G and H depend only on the nominal size, so UNC and UNF threads of one size share them.
Phosphate-coated grade B nuts (3-digit dash ending in 6) exist only for 1/4 to 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 (none for 9/16 or for 7/8 and larger).
Substitutes lists, as printed in Table VI, each cancelled (Table III, cancelled after 21 Mar 1966) or inactivated (Table IV) dash number and the Table II dash that supersedes it. The 'inactivated' ones (those marked 1/ in the sheet, grade B/C uncoated 404, 407, ...) can still be used for maintenance.
Table VII lists MS16203 (Ships) dash numbers cancelled and replaced by Table II numbers (not transcribed).
Printed oddities: the thickness H printed for 1/2 (.323/.302) and 9/16 (.324/.301) is nearly equal, and Table IV prints 2.0000-4-1/4 UNC where 4-1/2 UNC is meant.
Threads per FED-STD-H28/2; acceptability of screw threads per FED-STD-H28/20, System 21.
For design feature purposes this standard takes precedence over the referenced procurement documents.
