A single number is a maximum. Other elements: 0.05 each, 0.15 total, except where the Teal Sheets say otherwise. Source: Aluminum Association Teal Sheets (Aug 2018).
In the shop
The AC's main point is that 2117-T4 may be used in the condition received, without further treatment (par. 7-2a; par. 4-57d).
The AC's splice tables are calculated for 2117-T4 (AD) protruding head rivets (Tables 4-9 to 4-11). Size and spacing come from the SRM, or from the edge distance and pitch chart as general practice.
Questions people actually ask
Does a 2117 rivet need the icebox?
No. The AC says 2117 rivets may be driven in the condition received.
What does the dimple on the head mean?
Table 4-8 gives a dimpled dot on the head for 2117-T, material code AD.
Limits — when NOT to use this
- Not a source of design allowables. Values are for reference. MMPDS and the SRM govern a repair.
- Not a substitution approval. A different alloy or temper needs approved data.
- No sheet data. 2117 is a rivet alloy here. No bend or sheet values are given.
