How equivalence is decided

A product is an acceptable substitute only when the SRM, the AMM or the aircraft maker's approved material list says so, or when the specification's qualified products list includes it for the same type, class and dash number. A matching dash number is not enough: dash numbers give application life only. The cure time, tack-free time and temperature range vary by product, so a B-2 from one maker is not a B-2 from another.

Questions people actually ask

Can I swap PR-1422 for PS-890?

Only if the SRM or approved data allow it. Both cite an AMS-S-8802 style specification, but that is not an approval.

Is B-2 the same everywhere?

It means 2 hours application life at test conditions. Cure and tack-free times differ between products.
