PR-812 — firewall sealant

Aerospace sealant is sold in two parts as a class and a dash number. The class says how it is applied and where: A by brush, B as a fillet, C between mating faces. The dash number, as in B-2, is the application life in hours: how long the mixed sealant stays usable. The product itself, and its class and dash number, are named in the SRM; this guide explains the system so the sheet reads clearly.

Notes from the guide

  • The manual governs. The SRM names the sealant, class, dash number and primer.
  • One product sheet. The dash table is PR-1422 Class B. We have not read the data for Class A or C of any product, and we give none.
  • No viscosity ranges. The sources do not agree on them.
