Notes from the maker
- Make sure the nut is snug against the polyurethane spring (item 11); do not over-tighten.
- Preload adjustment: thread load adjustment nut (12) hand tight against polyurethane spring (11) with wrench; tighten to increase preload; if not properly tightened preload element loses effectiveness.
- Sleeve assembly: thread nosepiece (7) into sleeve (4); thread load adjustment nut (12) over sleeve; push polyurethane spring, retainer washer and preload sleeve onto sleeve; insert collet assembly; align slots and press dowel pin (8); rotate retainer washer out of alignment.
- Mounting: push against riveter piston and thread collet assembly onto piston; snap sleeve assembly onto riveter bayonet mount.
- Clean insert, jaws and jaw cavity every 1,000 installations or on failures. Lubricate outside of jaws with Lubriplate or similar light lubricant. Loctite 242 on threaded elements; grease tapered area of jaws with Lubriplate.
